Hockey Helps the Homeless

We are overjoyed to join Hockey Helps the Homeless (HHTH) this year. HHTH leverages Canada’s love for hockey to raise awareness and financial support for people experiencing homelessness. They do this by hosting hockey tournaments across the country, where players raise funds to make a direct impact in their own community.

Due to the ongoing challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unfortunately unable to meet on the ice this year. That said, the need for fundraising dollars to help neighbours in need is as urgent as ever, so HHTH is not giving up. They have reimagined what it looks like to virtually come together to raise funds for essential services, and have launched a virtual campaign called The Canada Life Cup.

The Canada Life Cup encourages players to create or join a team to raise funds for partner beneficiaries: Mission Services of London, Merrymount Family Support and Crisis Centre, and Unity Project. All fundraisers will be rewarded with a selection of top tier fundraising prizes such as True Hockey Gear, Electronics, Taylor Made Golf Gear, and Home Goods.

Funds received by Mission Services will benefit families in need who are receiving services through the Prevention of Homelessness Among Families (PHAF) program at Rotholme Family Shelter. Through PHAF, we help families avoid emergency shelter, find and secure stable housing, and maintain it for the long-term.
