The “Goodwill Rescue Mission” opened in January 1951 and was later named Mission Services of London. See our historical timeline.

Basically what does Mission Services of London provide to the community?
As a non-profit, social service agency serving London and area for over 60 years, Mission Services of London focuses on assisting men, women and children who are faced with poverty, homelessness and crisis, as well as individuals who struggle with addiction and mental illness. We provide safe shelter, nutritious food, clothing, outreach, counselling, support services and referrals to other programs and agencies through our five branches: Men’s Mission & Rehabilitation Centre, Community Mental Health Programs, Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter, Quintin Warner House, and The Mission Store.

We have four values that define how we fulfil our mission: compassion, hope, integrity and diligence. Our organization was founded on and is rooted in Christian faith.
How is Mission Services of London funded?
Mission Services of London’s programs and services are funded at both the municipal and provincial levels of government. See our finance page for more information. However, a key source of funding, both monetary and gifts in kind, comes from individual donors, churches, schools, businesses, service clubs and community groups. We hold various events and campaigns throughout the year and accept donations online through a secure system. We are grateful for all levels of support including gifts of securities and legacy gifts.
Do you have a Board of Directors?
We have two: the Mission Services of London Board of Directors and the Mission Services of London Foundation Board of Directors.
How many people work at Mission Services of London?
As of January 2015, we had 143 employees (full-time, part-time, casual and relief). In addition, we are grateful for the assistance of nearly 300 volunteers yearly at our five branches and our administrative office. The majority of our volunteers, about 85, are at The Mission Store.
What is required to volunteer at Mission Services of London?
All volunteer applicants must be 18 years or older, plus hold a current Police Records Check. The process consists of an application, an interview, review of volunteer guidelines, and reference checks. Visit our Volunteer page to learn more
Where does Mission Services of London receive food donations from and where do they go?
Mission Services of London receives vital donations of food throughout the year from individuals, churches, and schools as well as businesses including restaurants, food suppliers and farms. Food items include canned goods, dry goods, fresh produce, prepared foods, juice, coffee, infant formula and more. In addition, Mission Services of London purchases food and supplies to ensure that we provide nutritious meals to clients at the Men’s Mission & Rehabilitation Centre, Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter and Quintin Warner House addictions treatment program.
What happens to donations of clothes, shoes and linen?
Many items go to the Mission Store, at 4-797 York Street. The Store has good quality, gently used items in ten departments at low prices, no tax. The Store also runs two programs that provide items to those in need without cost. Some donors request that their donations not be placed for sale. To ensure this, we bring items to the appropriate branch.

The Men’s Mission & Rehabilitation Centre
The Men’s Mission & Rehabilitation Centre at 459 York Street is a 146-bed facility for men. It operates as both an emergency shelter with 111 beds for homeless men 16 years of age and older, as well as a transitional residence with 35 beds for men requiring longer term support. In addition to meals and accommodation, the Men’s Mission offers counselling, chapel services and clothing. Tel 519-672-8500.
Community Mental Health Programs
Community Mental Health Programs at 457 York Street offers services for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and struggle with mental illness and/or substance addiction. Assistance is provided through the Streetscape outreach and support team, Transitional Case Managers who work with clients transitioning out of hospital, Crashbeds overnight crisis support beds, the Gathering Place morning reception centre, and a Resource Centre with computer and phone access. Quintin Warner House
Quintin Warner House at 477 Queens Avenue is a 16-bed residential addictions rehabilitation home, which offers a four-month intensive program and continuum of care for males 18 years of age and older. Optional post-graduation services include after-care support, transitional housing, and referrals to community resources. Tel: 519-434-8041.
Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter
Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter at 42 Stanley Street is a safe place with room for up to 20 families—men, women and children—in need of emergency shelter and care. Caseworkers provide counselling and support to help clients transition to more permanent housing, and achieve self-identified goals.
The Mission Store
The Mission Store at 4-797 York Street offers gently used clothing and household items at low prices, no tax, six days a week. The store also runs the Voucher Program to provide families and individuals in need with basic needs (clothing and household items) at no charge. The Warm Hands – Warm Hearts Outreach Program provides warm children’s clothing to participating London elementary schools from November to February.
