What is Legacy Giving?

Legacy gifts can be thought of as deferred gifts that are given through an estate plan. They are often given by naming Mission Services of London Foundation as a full or partial beneficiary of your estate.

Legacy gifts help to reduce taxes in the year of death and allows more of the estate to pass to your beneficiaries.

All legacy gifts to Mission Services of London are processed through its Foundation.

What are other ways to make a Legacy Gift?

Naming the Foundation as a beneficiary of your estate in your will is just one way to give a gift that endures. Other ways to give a legacy gift include:

• Naming Mission Services of London Foundation as a beneficiary of an RRSP or RRIF
• Gifting securities to Mission Services of London Foundation through your estate
• Naming Mission Services of London Foundation as the owner and/or beneficiary of an existing or new life insurance policy
• Naming Mission Services of London Foundation as a beneficiary of a gift annuity or remainder trust

Eligible gifts are acknowledged and receipted with an official receipt for income tax purposes. Spending of funds is confined to Mission Services of London Board-approved programs and projects. Each contribution designated towards a Board-approved program or project will be used as designated, with the understanding that when the need for such a program or project has been met, or if it cannot be completed for any reason determined by the Board, the remaining restricted contributions designated for such program or project will be used where needed most.
