Since 1995, the Mission Store has been running the Warm Hands – Warm Hearts Outreach Program for children in need in the London area. This is a program that runs in partnership with more than 30 elementary schools in London, both in the London District Catholic and Thames Valley District School Boards.
Between the months of November and February, Mission Services of London’s own Mission Store van drives out to the distributions centres of the partnering school boards to deliver much-needed items that will equip children for the winter weather. The van delivers mittens, winter hats, and warm socks for children whose families struggle and cannot afford to provide these winter basics.
It is the school staff who distribute the items since they already have a relationship of trust established with each child, and can assess individual needs. To meet needs beyond winter wear, the Mission Store offers an Emergency Voucher Program to further provide families and people in need with free clothing and household articles.
The Warm Hands – Warm Hearts Outreach Program would not be possible without the generosity of community donors who provide donations of items and cash (to purchase items usually in high demand).
To make a donation and provide warm clothing to elementary school children, donate online through the button below (make sure to note your donation is for “Warm Hands – Warm Hearts”):
You can also drop off donated items, such as warm hats and waterproof gloves, to the Mission Store at 797 York Street in London.
