Mission Store Warming Hands and Hearts this Winter

Since 1995, the Mission Store has been running the Warm Hands – Warm Hearts Outreach Program for children in need in the London area. This is a program that runs in partnership with more than 70 elementary schools in London, both in the London District Catholic and Thames Valley District School Boards.

Between the months of November and February, Mission Services of London’s own Mission Store van, drives out to partnering elementary schools to deliver much needed items that will equip a child for the winter weather. The van delivers waterproof mittens, winter hats, neck warmers, socks, snow pants and more for children whose families struggle and cannot afford to provide these winter basics.

It is the school staff who distribute the items since they already have a trust relationship established with each child, and can assess individual need. They also make the Mission Store aware of specific items needed at particular times in order to best meet the needs of children and their families.

The Warm Hands – Warm Hearts Outreach Program would not be possible without the generosity of community donors who provide donations of items and cash (to purchase items usually in high demand).
