“Checkout” These Results

The annual Scan Away Hunger™ campaign ended 2021 on a high note, raising nearly $106,000 in support of the meal programs at Mission Services of London. Shoppers at certain London area stores donated $3.11 at the cash – the average cost of providing a meal to a man, woman or child staying in emergency shelter, or to a man receiving treatment for addiction. This year’s results will provide over 34,000 meals!

Thank you to everyone who donated in store or online, as well as General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada, for once again partnering with the campaign. And of course, a big thank you to Metro, Food Basics, valu-mart, the Mission Store and Remark Fresh Market for their support.

Coldest Night of the Year

February’s chilly temperatures made it the perfect month to hold our twelfth annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk. Over 280 walkers braved the cold in support of those experiencing hunger and homelessness in the London area.

Together, we raised over $108,000 to support emergency shelter for men and families, addiction treatment, mental health outreach, homelessness prevention programs, and the community outreach programs at the Mission Store. Not only did our walkers help raise vital funds, they also had an eye-opening experience of how it feels to struggle with homelessness in the winter.

A special thank you to Lewkowitz Financial, our Lead Sponsor for the event, as well as our other sponsors, walkers, donors and everyone whose well-wishes warmed our teams’ spirits!
