Mission Services of London celebrated 60 Years of Local Impact for our Mission Store on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
We were joined by members of the Women’s Auxiliary to Mission Services of London, who founded the Mission Store 60 years ago, in the basement of the Men’s Mission. In 1964, the Women’s Auxiliary recognized a need within our community, and began giving individuals and families clothing items at no cost to them, using a voucher system. Today, six decades later, we continue the Women’s Auxiliary’s legacy through our Emergency Voucher Program, allowing individuals and families in need to choose basic necessity items from our Mission Store, at no cost to them. We thank the Women’s Auxiliary for their devoted efforts that sowed the seeds of the Mission Store our community knows and loves today.
Our Mission Store was voted Best Thrift Store in 2024 by the London community!
We were also joined by Lutheran Social Services London, who has been a partner of Mission Services of London, supporting our Emergency Voucher Program, for three decades.
The Mission Store and Mission Services of London thanks every person who has had a hand in developing and strengthening the Mission Store’s impact on the London community, especially our volunteers. Volunteers have held the Store up since the very beginning, and the Mission Store continues to be 80% volunteer-driven to this day.
Thank you to everyone who attended and/or supported the Mission Store’s 60 Years of Local Impact celebration, including MP Peter Fragiskatos, MPP Teresa Armstrong, and MPP Peggy Sattler.
