The Value of One, the Power of Many: National Volunteer Week

Mission Services of London is grateful to be blessed with many caring, passionate volunteers. While we have had to suspend some volunteer programming throughout the pandemic, we know that our previous volunteers are longing to return and new volunteers are eager to begin as soon as we are able to welcome them.

From April 18th – 24th, 2021, organizations across Canada are celebrating National Volunteer Week. The theme this year is “The Value of One, the Power of Many” to reflect the kindness of individuals and the possibilities that arise from working together towards a common purpose.

Mia (pictured left), a Mission Store volunteer, shared, “Someone might think ‘Well, what can I do? I’m just one person,’ but if 100 people [want to make a difference], there’s power in that—then you would have 100 volunteers!”

Mia’s favourite part of volunteering at the Mission Store is getting to know the other volunteers. “When you work, you’re in one field… but when you volunteer, you meet people from all different walks of life,” she said. “It’s a very generous, very helpful, and kind place to volunteer”.

We truly value each and every volunteer and appreciate the powerful difference they make from working together.
