Christopher's Story
I was the oldest of five kids, growing up with a single mother. I had abusive adults in my life. The physical abuse took a toll, but the verbal abuse was the worst. My inner dialogue became the words that were said to me, and I started using addictive substances daily when I was thirteen.
My addiction lasted for a long time. I was at my rock bottom for five years. May 16, 2022 was the first day I stepped into Quintin Warner House, and in that moment, I honestly felt my soul healing. I felt welcome. I knew I was in the right place.
I never put so much of myself into anything as I did with the program at Quintin Warner House.
I graduated four months later, on September 16, 2022, and I’ve maintained my sobriety ever since.
As an alumni, keeping connected to Quintin Warner House helps me stay accountable, but the reason I’m there every week is to lead by example and show new guys that the program works.
I could sit here for hours and tell you how Quintin Warner House impacted me. I could sit here and say Quintin Warner House saved my life, but the truth is that I didn’t have a life before I went to Quintin Warner House.
I’m currently deciding between a job offer I have with the union, or going back to college. It’s refreshing, considering the previous problems I’ve had to navigate in my life. I found, and am embracing the authentic me.
