Spiritual Care
The Spiritual Care Program is dedicated to providing holistic support to participants, volunteers, and staff across all Mission Services of London's sites and programs.
We acknowledge that for some, having the option to address spiritual needs is as crucial as meeting physical and emotional needs. Our program offers a compassionate approach to nurture hope, resilience, and a sense of community through spiritual care.
For participants, volunteers, and staff, engagement with spiritual care is strictly voluntary. Mission Services of London respects every individual's choice, and meeting participants, volunteers, and staff where they are at is a priority— specifically with their belief, their understanding of faith, their comfort level discussing spirituality (or not), and their physical location in a multi-sited organization.
Our Trauma-Informed Chaplain
Mission Services of London has a trauma-informed Chaplain, Harry Soedarmasto.
Harry supports worship, devotional services, foundational biblical teachings, and spiritual care programming that's in alignment with Mission Services of London's mission and values.
While participants, volunteers, and staff are welcomed to talk with Harry regarding their spiritual needs, many individuals reach out to Harry for a variety of reasons that don't involve religion, including for a listening ear, a confidant, a laugh, and a friend.
Chaplain Harry practices trauma-informed pastoral care. Providing trauma-informed pastoral care involves understanding, anticipating, and responding to issues, expectations, and special needs that are often present in survivors of trauma. This also includes reducing the risk of re-traumatization.
Mission Services of London's Chapel is located within the Men's Mission site, at 459 York Street, London, Ontario.
